Parev polorin. We all posted positive comments about Gemaran and how gratifying it is to keep in touch with friends from Gemaran. But frankly let’s talk a bit about our negative experiences in Gemaran. I believe and I learned throughout my experiences in life that we can grow and become a better person if we use a constructive criticism rather than destructive one. Here is my story from Gemaran: I was an average student in Gemaran, I succeeded in many courses with as or Bs and failed in others. In 1993 I was in grade 12 and under the new administration at the school at that time things have changed dramatically. The school decided to segregate 12th grade classes into 3 groups. Good, average and poor students based on academic success. I was thrown in the class that was labelled “poor”. We had the worst teachers ever in the class; we were dismissed from the class many times and were not given a second opportunity. Definitely, I regressed, my marks went down to Ds and Cs, my parents were called and I was labelled a ZUIL, poor student as a punishment. Currently, I live in Canada for 10 years; I am a graduate student in clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa and a Ph.D candidate. I work with abused children for many years now. fifteen years after, Gemaran still segregates and punishes by putting the students’ self-esteem down. Myself, as a children rights activist, I think Gemaran has to change their punitive approaches and try to find constructive methods for consequences in order to make this world a better place for the students Thank you   1/2/2008
